Latest News > £11m hat-trick of medical centres officially launched in North Nottinghamshire

North Nottinghamshire Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) Company, the public private partnership specialising in providing state-of-the-art bespoke health and social care premises for the local NHS and councils across the area, is celebrating following the official opening events of three of its multi-million pound medical centres totalling over £11m-worth of investment.

The facilities which are now benefiting over 17,000 patients have been planned, designed and built and are now maintained under 25-year public private partnership agreements for two local primary care trusts (PCTs).

Its £3m Rainworth Primary Care Centre was officially unveiled by a retired GP practice manager Margaret Hammond who devoted more than 30 years to the health service.

The £3.1m Balderton Primary Care Centre was welcomed by local Newark MP Patrick Mercer when he unveiled a commemorative plaque at an event recently.

Whilst in Harworth (in the far north of Nottinghamshire), local army serviceman Mick Brennan, who was seriously injured during active service (and spent three years at the Haedley Court Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey), officially opened the £5m Harworth Primary Care Centre.

Each of these LIFT-developed one-stop primary care centres house GP practices and a range of community health services. All are already helping regenerate their local areas. The opening events were attended by centre staff along with patients and senior representatives of the public, private and voluntary sectors, including chief executive of North Nottinghamshire LIFT Company Lee Clayton.

Lee Clayton said: “North Nottinghamshire LIFT Company is delighted to celebrate the official opening of these three state-of-the-art buildings, each of which is a real milestone in our £34m programme of delivering modern community healthcare facilities, in areas that need them most.

“We are working with the local primary care trusts and other partners to identify further suitable developments, as part of our ongoing partnership.”
