Thieves broke into the empty Park House building, the former site of Carlton health clinic last Thursday night, 17 June, and stole 14 of stained glass windows being stored there. The original windows, salvaged from the building which is due to be demolished next month to make way for a new modern health and social care one-stop centre, were being retained to be used as internal features in the new premises.

Lynne Winstanley, chief executive of Gedling Primary Care Trust said: “Even though the building was no longer suitable for healthcare, being a Gedling resident I am aware of the local importance of some of the original features of the former Carlton health clinic, such as the stained glass windows.

“That is why it was our intention to save some of them when the current building is demolished and incorporate them in some way as features inside the new building. The thieves that took the stained glass windows have denied the local community the full enjoyment of these.”

She added: “Despite the theft there is thankfully enough glass to use as a smaller feature in the new one-stop centre for Carlton which is due to open in early 2006 and is being built as part of the Greater Nottingham-wide Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) modernisation programme.”

If you have any information about the thefts please contact PC 979 Hanpson at Carlton police station on Cavendish Road, tel: 0115 940 0999, quoting incident no: 609856.

To allow for re-development of the site Dr Campbell and Partner’s surgery has moved temporarily to Carlton Square.
