The Clifton skyline is changing.
The steelwork is up at the site of the new One-stop Centre on Southchurch Drive and building work will be officially launched at a lunchtime reception on Monday 21st February.
Due to open in early 2006, the One-stop Centre will accommodate a variety of community, health and local authority services, all under one roof in the heart of Clifton’s shopping area.
Representatives from Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City Primary Care Trust and the Clifton and Wilford Area Committee will visit the building site during a special event at Clifton Leisure Centre to mark the start of construction work and celebrate a £8.2m investment in Clifton.
Services going into the building include:
David Atkinson, Chairman of Nottingham City PCT, Samantha Milbank, Chief Executive of Nottingham City PCT, Adrian Belton, Nottingham City Council Corporate Services Director, and Councillor David Trimble, Nottingham City Council Executive Member for Housing and Social Services, will be given a site tour to view building progress along with four members of staff who will be working from the new building and Clare Ashton of the Clifton Health Action Group.
The building of Clifton’s One-stop Centre is welcomed by the local authority and the NHS in Nottingham as an opportunity to modernise facilities and improve service provision and accessibility in the area. The opportunity to relocate services within a joint Nottingham City PCT and City Council building will provide ‘joined up’ services, promote integrated working and improve service delivery within local neighbourhoods.
The launch will also provide an opportunity for staff who will be working in the new building to find out more about their new premises and the design and look of the building. There will also be the chance for staff to meet colleagues from other organisations in preparation for sharing a workplace, working in partnership and integrating local authority and health services.
Clifton is one of five sites in Greater Nottingham to be developed over the next 18 months by Greater Nottingham LIFTCo (Local Improvement Finance Trust) as part of a 25 year public/private sector partnership (PPP) agreement between the four Greater Nottingham primary care trusts, Nottingham City Council, Partnerships for Health (Department of Health agency) and ExcellCare Ltd.
These shareholders will deliver 21st century primary health and social care facilities throughout Greater Nottingham, in the areas that need them most.
