Head of Capital Development Lynne Sharp said: “We have produced a brief which outlines our initial ideas and plans for the new health centre and are keen that any new building benefits local residents as much as possible. Our initial brief has been sent to the County Council, Borough Council and Town Council for their views and suggestions as to any further developments we could include.

“We are open to ideas as to how health services can make new links with other community services such as by providing youth services or cafes or registrar services for example. Our current LIFT project, Keyworth Health Centre, includes public toilets and links with the local police service. At this stage we are open to all suggestions.

“We then consider the suggested options and how these will benefit local people and produce a more detailed brief of what will be included in the new building. Once this is all in place we will work with LIFT Co and local partners to review our options regarding where the health centre will be situated and begin to draw up plans as to what the building may look like in conjunction with local planning regulations.

“This is not usually a quick process and pre-LIFT schemes have taken several years to develop. However, in partnership with LIFTCo, we believe it possible to start building within 18 months of the start of formal design and development process.”
