Gedling Primary Care Trust (PCT) today announced that the new centre in Carlton will be called ‘Park House Health & Social Care Centre’, following a ballot taken with local people on their favourite name.

More than 350 local people took part in the consultation exercise held in local NHS facilities and Carlton library in August. Almost half of those taking part voted for the name ‘Park House’, after the former house on the same site.

Gedling PCT’s Board agreed that the full name will be Park House Health & Social Care Centre after consultation with local people suggested that they would like to see the words ‘health’ and ‘care’ in the title.

Lynne Winstanley, Chief Executive of the PCT, said:

“The former house on the site was called Park House so we are delighted that local people want to keep the name and for the overwhelming support that we have received. It has been great to see so much interest and backing for the new Centre.

“Park House Health & Social Care Centre will not just be a medical facility. It will be a resource for the whole community, bringing health and social care together with the voluntary sector and facilities that all local people can use.”

The £7.5 million, purpose-built Park House Health and Social Care Centre in Carlton will open to patients and the people of Gedling in January 2006. It is based on the site of the former Carlton Clinic on Burton Road. The new centre will provide health and social care services and other community facilities all under one roof.

Construction work is now almost complete and members of the public who took part in the ballot will be invited to a series of open days being held in December, before the centre opens to patients next year.
